Prairie Dogs

I love prairie dogs. I think they're adorable, as stated in another post. I figured I'd use this one to post some pictures that I took when I went to the Elmwood Park Zoo on Friday. Enjoy!

Media, Pennsylvania Video

I spent some time on YouTube for once, and I found some awesome videos that are about Media. I thought I'd share one. It's a nice, small town and the video is by a local real estate company, thus all the houses.

Enjoy.

Gaming Centers

Media's not behind on the gaming times, I'm glad that the local Fox news is up on the take:

Restaurants

So Media's been revamping State St. and being awesome like it is, there's a webpage filled with a bunch of bars, restuarants, and other various food-filled places in Media complete with phone numbers and addresses.

The best place to get a hoagie is either Wawa or Kovac's. Both are always amazing and never disappointing.

A favorite lunch of my friends and I has always been Little Anthony's for some pizza and then O'Malleys for dessert. I'm fairly certain that O'Malley's has been in town since it was first established, but it's still a really sweet, cheap place.

The Zoo

I went to the Elmwood Park Zoo last year with some friends. It was good times. They have the cutest prairie dogs (one of my favorites). The picture is from that section of the zoo. There's one little dog by the fence. It's not in the best looking of areas, but Norristown isn't too bad, and the zoo itself is really pretty.
Feel free to visit the site here: http://www.elmwoodparkzoo.org/index.html

Walking Tour of Media?

A walking tour of Media?

The borough has a bunch of random things on it's site. I ran into a walking tour of Media.

"Media has always been a town rich in historical associations both national
and local."

Interesting stuff. It's mainly shops/buildings that were mostly built back in the 1800's. Media School is on the list, too. It's weird that it used to be the high school. I spent (kind of) fun (second half of) 2nd through 5th grades at it. I still love how every now and then we'd find books from the high school.

I feel old remembering how I transferred to public school in second grade and the school was under renovation so I had a class at Indian Lane - my class got to hang out in the auxiliary gym. I bet no one else had a make-shift classroom with padded walls.

Parks

We have a million parks in Delco, did anyone else notice? There's the obvious Ridley Creek State Park, Rosetree Park, Glen Riddle, and Smedley, and those are just the ones in Media.

There are about twenty others, if not more. Broomall has some pretty nice parks just off of Lawrence Rd.

My favorite parks have been:
Ridley for jogging/running/aesthetics
Rosetree for their amazing concerts and awesome winter/holiday lights
Veteran's Memorial Park is great for walking and people with children (they have a nice little playground for kids)

I Feel Like Dancing Tonight

Lately, I've been finding a lot of dance floors in bars. Namely, the second floor of bars.

My favorite places so far have been:
1. Barnaby's in Aston, PA. There are two levels. The lower level is the dining room/main bar. It's mainly professionals catching a drink after work late at night. The second floor has a similar bar off to the side of the dance floor. There's also a second room in the back that has a few tables as well as a pool table. The upstairs gets to dancing sometime around 10:30 and 11 pm. My best friend just had her 21st here so she could go dancing all night. (She loved it)

2. Durty Nelly's on MacDade (The one in Ridley). The main bar when you look for it is called Durty Nelly's. It looks like you're stereo typical bar. The bar is right when you walk in, there's a bunch of tables in the back. Off to the back on the right side when you come in, hiding behind the wall, is a staircase. Don't worry, like most places, the upstairs has another bar. Unlike the downstairs, however, the bar is off to the back and out of the way. The floor is all for dancing. At the far end, those who wish to be under the lights/show off can dance. The rest of the floor is dance-capable. If you get worn out or just don't feel like dancing, there are couches and tables lining the side opposite the bar in the room for you.

Introduction

I'm making this blog & website for class. It's here so that you can learn about all the new and upcoming events in the Media area. In case you don't know where Media is, here's some info on it:

The Borough of Media
Media Borough is the County Seat of Delaware County, Pennsylvania. Located 12 miles [20-30 minutes] west of Philadelphia, Media was incorporated in 1850 when the court records were moved from Chester. From that point on, Media has been developed as a planned community with an infrastructure to support growth and commerce for years to come. Its active shopping districts, quiet residential streets, numerous civic and religious institutions, and convenient transportation facilities are all within easy walking distance of each other. -From Visit Media
